Kwesi Awotwi

Visual Artist Kwesi Awotwi brings his working studio into the Dulwich Picture Gallery Art Studio, presenting a special display of paintings and drawings from his ongoing series Kindred Portraits. The series was developed following the making of his 2021 film Tree of Roots, which explores the theme of Sankofa — reflecting on the importance of returning to the past to inform the future. Visitors are invited to engage closely with the works on display and gain insight into Kwesi’s creative process. Throughout the exhibition, he will also host both short and long pose life drawing demonstrations within the studio space, offering a live exploration of his evolving artistic practice. Sundays only.
