As this weekend would have been the first weekend of Artists’ Open House I have made this video to show what I have been working on since Covid 19 stopped us all in our tracks. Sadly it literally stopped me as I contracted the virus the same day as lockdown was announced. Luckily I didn’t need to go to hospital but recovery was slow and fraught with setbacks. I had been making paintings especially for the exhibition but have decided to show these drawings instead. I call them recovery drawings and have given them the title remembering hills. The small ones I made on a board sitting up and the larger ones on days when was stronger and made it to my garden studio. It was tiring but so important to feel agency and to make something. I dreamed of being in the cool highlands of Scotland. After recovery I started to make some five minute sculptures from things lying around the house or studio (a twitter idea) and I have included the first one I made, a reflection on balance, time and fragility.
