Volunteering – Stewarding at an Event

Why do we need stewards? As a steward your role is to a) help to make sure the event is safe b) help the event run smoothly.

What is involved? This can include helping people to find a seat, directing people to toilets and other facilities in the building. scanning tickets from an app on your phone. The actual tasks may vary according to the needs of the individual event. There are usually 2 or 3 stewards per event as well as people working on the box office and event production so you would be part of a team.
The time commitment would typically be to report to the venue before the doors open. Doors usually open 30 minutes before the scheduled event start time. You would need to remain until the event is over and any setting down has been completed. A detailed briefing sheet is emailed to each steward prior to the event.

The events for which we need stewards with the number of stewards we still required, dates and approximate times are listed below. Please let me know which events you wish to help steward.

For the South London Makers Festival and childrens art competition exhibition we are looking for stewards to cover part of the day rather than the whole event. For these please indicate morning / afternoon and how much time you are able to give.
